Snow buntings

Some images of the flock near the Blue dolphin caravan site. This 10 minutes of sunshine last week was about the only window of bright light good enough when this flock was present. Up to 70 on one visit but usually about 30 ish birds. Always a delight, and to me these are special birds. The jackdaw suddenly looked stunning in the evening light.

Black throated diver

Just record shots during a 10 min spell when the bird stayed in the middle of Burton riggs mere, too much activity around the edges to get it closer.

Scarborough harbour

A quick call into the harbour produced 4 red throated divers and 35 purple sands clinging to the harbour wall. The sea was a boiling cauldron of mountainous waves but this seems ideal for an adult winter little gull. This bird was settled on the water in the harbour but suddenly flew out to sea, it reappeared just off the lighthouse feeding, but so fast in flight, a bird in its element.
