Filey

A quick visit to the dams resulted in just Coot and Little Grebe, so much water, grebes calling loudly and a lone swallow passing through.

Little Grebe

A quick visit to the dams on the way home was an anticlimax, coot and this Little Grebe were about all there was.

Troutsdale

Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail and Robin constantly seen feeding around shallows. Dipper and Kingfisher seen along with Mandarin duck, cool and showers again.

Ring Ouzels

Up to 10 birds present around gorze scrub at Ravenscar top, a sunny very windy day. Birds nervous and flighty, always shooting into the sun but nice to see so many together. A large influx this spring down the east coast.

Blacktoft Sands RSPB

This reserve can be superb or just frustrating. The marsh harriers were showing well but very distant. Grasshopper, Sedge and Reed Warblers all singing in deep cover. A Cold windy day not to be recommended, still up to 200 avocets.

Wykham

A nice day around the forest, a Mistle Thrush hunting the ploughed field stood out even at a distance. This bird along with Coal Tit, Willow Warbler, Wren and Chaffinch are very common in this area. However, Common Crossbill is not so, this female and the juvenile male, i think are a pair. These are the only two frequenting this area.

Red Legged Partridge

An old stubble field near Ayton and ideal habitat for these, i usually see them running in front of the car and then dissappearing.

Filey

Dunnock was the only close bird to photo on the way up to North cliff, lots of Herring Gulls nesting but little else on a quiet day.
